Started diving into our 1918 Holt 75 restoration for the Historical Museum at Fort Missoula (www.forestrydays.com). As we dive in, it's in remarkable good shape. We've stripped it down to the point where we are now starting to repair/rebuild. That’s quite a project. Thanks for the pictures. That will really be a nice tractor when you’re done. Keep us posted.

Progress continues on our Holt 75 (sn 3379). Cylinders honed up, valves ground, hours and hours wire brushing. Sand blasted and painted everything that didn't have Babbitt's.

I know everybody has their own opinion on whether to fully restore and make them shiny and better than new or to leave them as they were, restore them mechanically and functionally and let the glitter go. A tough decision for some, a non issue for others, I tend to favor "leave them as the were" but what ever the decision the outcome will be great, another trophy saved from the smelters. Best of luck on you project

I agree, get them mechanically in shape and leave the makeup go, nothing like natural beauty, if ya know what I mean. lol

What model grader is in picture #12 sitting next to the 75 in your shed?

Testimonials

"I also joined a year ago. had been on here a couple of times as a non-member and found the info very helpful so I got a one year subscription (not very expensive at all) to try it out. I really like all the resources on here so I just got a three year. I think its a very small price for what you can get out of this site."
