It amazes me that these can still be hiding out their, I thought I knew where most of the California 75's are. Hopefully one day I can find one that I can afford.
There are still several Holt 75's "Hiding" in the Western US. A couple more will be coming to market soon. I think that the best comparison on population for the Holt 60/75 would be the Rumely 30-60 E. They are both super desirable and command a good price but they are not rare, there are just not as many as there are collectors who would like to own one. There are reported to be in excess of 100 Rumely E's still standing and at the end of the day there are probably going to be close to 100 Holt 60/75 tractors. I have about 80 on my list right now and there are several that are going together around the world as we speak.
The 75 that is selling this week is a good tractor, very comparable to the one that sold at Jeff Huff's in August. It has issues just like all 100 year old tractors (there was a video I saw of it where the operator could not get it into gear that has now disappeared). The 75 selling this weekend should sell in the same ballpark ($210,000) as the Huff 75 as there are several that have sold in the last 3 years and the shock price tag of the Peltzer 75 ($325,000) has consistently dropped with several private sales and a couple of auction sales since the fall of 2017. Having said that, you never know what is going to happen at an auction but common sense would dictate that the hammer price should be +/- 10% of the Huff tractor, but I will go out on a limb and say that out of no where the Holt 75 will sell for an amazing amount this weekend. Just a hunch on my part.
