Good Friday to all. I have posted some pictures of the Holt engine on my Flickr page. Go to http://www.flickr.com/photos/rusty_acres/
After a long search for machine shops to hone my cylinders, I bought a hone on ebay and did it my self. The cylinders came out nice. valves/seats have been ground and hand lapped.New rings have been fitted to the pistons and wrist pins have been readjusted. Even made some progress on the steel wheeled trailer it will be mounted upon.
I know this is not Cat Crawler related ,but since Holt was the parent company to Caterpillar, I thought some would like to see it. Thanks, Jim.

Jim, Thanks for sharing. Sure looks like it will make a nice display when you are done.

Did you use the punch to clean the rust or to free up a stuck piston?

Thanks, Daron

Daron, I use the "punch" to free up stuck pistons and valves. BTW, it is not Hawaiian Punch, but a 50/50 mix of diesel and ATF. Works great on loosening up engines which had gotten water down the exhaust stacks. JIm.

Chriscokid, ATF is Automatic Tramsmission Fluid. Its is a great penetrant and does not evavorate. It also has additives to clean varnish and crud in tight places. It works great in freeing stuck cylinders. Jim.

The last one I freed up was combination of ATF and Marvel Mystery Oil because I ran out of Marvel. Might not work again but it did on that one.

A 50/50 mix of Acetone and ATF makes a fine penetrant also.
