I brought my CAT 25 "USMC #932, which was part of Battery K 10th Marines", Quantico, VA to the Hollister CA Airshow. There were many vintage aircraft at this Memorial weekend show.

Looks great next to that P-51, but I doubt it will fly even if you put wings on it. 😊

That machine looks great. Good job. Is that the show just outside Watsonville or is this a different show? I was to the one near Watsonville 20 or so years ago and it was a good show then.

Great looking tractor, and sitting at Hollister Airport not far from one of my favorite restaurants, the Tres Pinos Inn, is the Salinas Airshow still running Bill? I remember visiting a small company making brand new Mustangs there at the Salinas Airport, that was at least 10 years ago now, what a sweet looking and sounding plane they are.

Mike

G'day Mike. A bit of google and I found this http://www.calpacificairmotive.com/index.html
Sounds like the people you were thinking of.
Go to virtual tour, some great photos of a very nice workshop.
I am a bit of a plane nut, I have a mate who has got several old radials going, they looked specky running at night

That's the company I visited, thanks for the link, I remember they had a young Aussie working there who was having a ball, and the workshop was very impressive, I lived 45 miles down the Valley and often flew in and out of that Salinas Airport. You should ask our "Edb" about radial engines, he was just telling me a week ago about one he restored at his home in Melbourne out of a Stuart Tank I believe, it took all his mates in the street to hand crank the recoil starter to fire her up, and he reckons all the hens in the district quit laying eggs for a week after she fired up!😆

The Watsonville Airshow is Labor Day and Salinas is in Sept. All these airports have WWII history with Salinas having 16" of concrete for heavy bombers.

Bill,

WOW! Looks like the KGB was wandering around in the crowd way back then! Who knew?

Certainly not our FBI! 😊

Testimonials

"I also joined a year ago. had been on here a couple of times as a non-member and found the info very helpful so I got a one year subscription (not very expensive at all) to try it out. I really like all the resources on here so I just got a three year. I think its a very small price for what you can get out of this site."
