help identification problem

You have an early Cat inertia drive type starter. Cat # 5H0764 which is a Delco Remy#1109872 which has been replaced by a 9H3560 Delco Remy #1113716 or a 9F5310 Delco Remy #1109706.

These are the early style type 350 (8-brush) 40MT starters. You need to stay with the D2/933 (54mm) drive as the D4 & D6 units are larger diameter.

I don't know where you are in Oz, but Tilly's in Toowoomba should be able to help you...or tell you who can. I'd be surpised if you can't source one.

With those Delco Remy part numbers, I would have thought a half-way decent auto electrician ought to be able source it for you, especially one who is into heavy equipment.

Should be able to get the motor parts no problem.....only the drive is scarce.

Tear it down and I can give you the parts numbers for the replacement pieces you need.

Should be a Delco Remy tag with model # on the motor.... that would be good to have.

thank you again gentlemen but tillys are unable to assist i have tried many of the auto elects the drive is the problem delco tell me the drive is obsolete everyone has a straight tooth drive and they do not understand what a helical tooth drive is i can obtain plenty 40mt & 42mt but all have straight tooth drives due to my limited knowledge of these machines is this starter motor an oddity for this machine the machine is in great order but was headed for the scrapyard also it is great to have some knowledgeable people to assist us befuddled newies

Yes, it is an obsolete starter, unavailable as a common aftermarket unit.
The drive assembly Cat #1H2473 is a Delco #1919905 and is unique to the D2 and 933 installations and quite obsolete.

They are around but hard to get access to. Those that have them tend to hang on to them for their own use.

If your handy, the more common conversion helical drive gear and a 40MT or 42MT starter can be utilized but you will have to offset grind the starter nose hole to the outside about a 1/16+ in. and drill out the aftermarket nose housing bolt holes to 3/4 in. to fit it up. These units have the direct mounted solenoid and would need to be checked for interference on the loader.

he is one of us old guys who has spent his whole life as an inventor he actually makes the conversions to suit your needs he does not advertise much so is hard to locate
