Hello everyone new the the group. I picked up a 1937 twenty two 1J1227WSP that the motor had been removed and disassembled about 10 to 20 years ago parked in a shed and forgoten about. Was told it had been in a fire at some point the son knew very little about it. Was only a mile from my acerage so made for a quick trip home Nathan came out to help load it up. I have started tearing down rest of motor and cleaning part found a couple little problem that should be fixable.

You should go back and update your Profile to let everyone know where you are in case you hit a point where you need some help or parts that have turned up missing!
Those "Some Assembly Required" tractors are always the most Fun as you can go through replacing/repairing as you re-assemble!
Nice Find!

Some issues that I have come across so far.
1. Connecting rod big end bearing need to be repoured on 2 rods.
2. 2 cracks and a big patch in he cylinder jugs will need to be welded. Thinking about tig welding with stainless filler rod.
3. Cam has a worn lobe (very pointy others are nice and round.
4. Exhaust guides and seats need replacing.
5. Some minor pitting and ring ridge on cylinders. Maybe new pistons and rebore or just run new rings i have. 015 to .020 piston to cylinder clearance.

Anyone have sources for new parts or usable ones.

To bad you are so far. I have most of those parts but it would cost a fortune to ship them. - Wally

I have a nice set of pistons and cylinders I saved of a 22 that was scraped, it was reported to have a recent top overhaul. I would like to see them go to a good project.

Have been around Caterpillar iron my whole life. Dad owned a construction business. I have been doing a lot of reading on here & I am hooked. Testimonials

"I also joined a year ago. had been on here a couple of times as a non-member and found the info very helpful so I got a one year subscription (not very expensive at all) to try it out. I really like all the resources on here so I just got a three year. I think its a very small price for what you can get out of this site."
