I'm putting new brake linings in my D7 7M. Is it a good idea to glue them to the bands in addition to riveting? If so what kind of glue or cement should I use. Thanks, Rick.

I really don,t see where it,s necessary & Cat never did it on the machines like that & the bands flex some I,m sure when you apply the brake so if they are riveted on correctly I don,t see a problem with them.

I'm with SJ on this one. Any glued/ bonded linings are usually done by some factory process, not just something we could do at home. It would be a good plan to start your rivets and peen over a bit but not tight, so lining can move untill you get all of them in. Then start at the middle ones and work out to the ends of each piece.

Testimonials

"I also joined a year ago. had been on here a couple of times as a non-member and found the info very helpful so I got a one year subscription (not very expensive at all) to try it out. I really like all the resources on here so I just got a three year. I think its a very small price for what you can get out of this site."
