A 1/4" drive deep socket may work also.

Do you mean a precombustion chamber removal tool?

The 7U uses the splined type 5F8353 which is available online from several sources including eBay or from your CAT dealer. There are additional tools available as a kit to remove and install the ā€œretainerā€ around the top of the OEM style 2 piece chambers. Sorry but I don’t have a part number for that kit.

All replacement precombustion chambers available today are a single piece design and you need only the 5F8353 splined tool to remove and install them.
D2-5J's, D6-9U's, D318 and D333 power units, 12E-99E grader, 922B & 944A wheel loaders, D330C generator set, DW20 water tanker and a bunch of Jersey cows to take care of in my spare timešŸ˜„

Hi,
Scan below is for the tools in said kit. Not sure about the guides mentioned but are most likely to stop canting the wrenches and snapping off the glow plug body above the chamber as I think the early ones were less robust than todays designs.

The subject has been covered many times in the past and recently, albeit on a later series engine in boat I think, about how to align the pre-chambers to prevent glow plug interference with the valve cover etc. by using various thickness washers/gaskets to get into the go, no go range.
Cheers,
Eddie B.

thank you for the reply and documents

Removed the inspection cover on the pump housing today. Had a friend turn over (electric start compression lever set to no compression)

I can only see one plunger barely move. That is my focus now. I have read the caution that must be taken taken fooling around with the rack and the plungers.

soaked them 3 times today (PšŸ˜Ž will take another look tommorow and try to get some movement on those plungers. Tractor has sat at least 10 years.

from the fuel tank to the pistons one step at a time.

Takes a special internal splined socket to remove the injector retainer nut former 2H7479 now 8S2243 available on ebay. With the nut removed there's plenty of room to access the glow plug. A through bore 5/16 socket can then be used or if you can find one that 1H5656 wrench.
