A few weeks ago I found a D315G gen set at an auction and decided if it went within reason it would be nice to have for parts for my 112 grader. Well I bought it. Upon getting it home and messing around with it, I found it wasn't locked up, and after resetting the rack kill knob, it fired right up. It has the fuel tank underneath, and still has the screen and dipstick in it. By now I had decided to keep it all together as a generator. The problem is, it is three phase, 60hz, 240 volts, and I'd like to use it to power my single phase house. I have read all sorts of stuff rangin from there being now problem with using only two legs to make single phase, to burning up everything with the out of phase waves. Does anyone have any experience with this? I also read about someone converting an Onan three phase generator to single phase by rewireing it. Does this sound possible? I am slightly past the "if the light comes on when the switch goes up, you have power, if not call an electrician" stage, and have actually used a phase converter going the otehr way, but this one will take some further expertise. As always, any help is greatly appreciated.
