Saw this on YouTube. https://youtu.be/hejUzvfGuY8

Pretty cool for smaller intricate gaskets like for carbs, magnetos, etc.

Anybody tried this?

Most bigger gaskets are fairly easy to fab using a ball peen hammer, punches, scissors and time. It's the smaller ones that can be trying.

$400 for the printer/ cutter would have to be spread across the costs of many gaskets but tools always cost something.

I made some of the easy ones for the steering clutch covers of the D6 with my sons encouragement. Which had me wondering how many of the young folks that are good at using computer diagnostics could make a gasket with a ball peen hammer. As easy as it is I would hope a lot,but gasket in a tube and other modern things it could also be many have never done it.

Machias cat thanks for sharing that. Those little ones would give me fits anymore.

Wow that’s cool. Boss has one, but I never thought about using it for gasket making.

I’ll show her this video and see if we can build one.

On a related note: I use a old school leather punch for making little holes in carburetor gaskets. They come with 6 different size holes and work great.

BP.

LMAO, My wife has one of those cutter machines. I wonder what it'll take to get her to cut some gaskets for me. As far as the hammer and scissor method, yes I've done that too. Matter of fact just made one the other night and a 45 shell works great for cutting 3/8" bolt holes out.

I'm not afraid to admit it, I love my Cricut. I bought one on sale last year to do vinyl, and have been pretty happy with it. I have done vinyl decals, and vinyl masks to paint designs on projects. The software is pretty easy to use. Mine was less than $200. I'm pretty sure it won't cut gasket material, but if you needed to do that enough to justify the purchase of the higher end model, I think it would do a good job at it.

Testimonials

"I also joined a year ago. had been on here a couple of times as a non-member and found the info very helpful so I got a one year subscription (not very expensive at all) to try it out. I really like all the resources on here so I just got a three year. I think its a very small price for what you can get out of this site."
