The photos were taken at the ACMOC/HCEA show at Bowling Green, Ohio. Gary Whiteman, the owner, is pictured with his machine. He was very kind to let me operate the machine, and I took it for a spin around the show grounds. Unlike my D-75, the steering clutches worked flawlessly, but still required some muscle power to pull. The main clutch worked beautifully too. In fact, the machine behaved just as well as it did the day it left the Cat factory. He has done a very nice job with the machine's restoration and maintenance. While a beast, it behaved very well. Thank you to Gary for the opportunity to take it for a ride! George W. Howard, Arvada, Colorado

Thank you Erik!! That guys name is Jim Lipstraw from Limestone Ohio, he worked for the Goerge Gradel Co. in Toledo operating these draglines for years. At his age he rebuilt all the cluthes and all of the track and undercarriage all in his little shed, amazing!

Thanks Erik for all those wonderful photos!

I noticed the 315 Cat engine in the gentleman's 15B machine. I'd very much like to have the serial number for our list to be published in the ACMOC Magazine. Am working on the list.

Gary, I forgot to mention how well the gear shift worked too. Yes, I ground some gears, but actually the motion of the Johnson bar was smooth, and for a Cat, once I got used to the shift, it wasn't bad. Some are nearly impossible to change gear in. All in all, a smooth-running machine.

Was it an ag Cat or in construction?

Hello George, the serial # of the D315 is 9S11124. I wished had brought my photo album of the "inside work" I did on the 75. Gary

"I also joined a year ago. had been on here a couple of times as a non-member and found the info very helpful so I got a one year subscription (not very expensive at all) to try it out. I really like all the resources on here so I just got a three year. I think its a very small price for what you can get out of this site."
