Variety is the spice of life some say: Our chapter is looking for NEW places to hold our meetings/gatherings/playdays.
As many are aware, the California Ag Museum is no longer, for years, they have always been very hospitable and offered us not only their meeting/banquet facilities, but opened their museum for everyone to enjoy. (many thanks).
I am reaching out to the general membership for ideas for future events. Any ideas? Share them please! One person offered to have us bulldoze his ex mother in law's home (with her in it I believe). In the best interest of the chapter, I declined; perhaps it was too far for many to attend? LOL
JuiceMan's clubhouse will not be happening soon. Scratch that idea for the time being...
As it stands, we will be part of "Plow Days" #2 at Rio Linda, CA at the Drycreek Ranch, which is owned by the County of Sacramento, and run by the RL/Elverta Historical Society. Seat time is on the agenda, perhaps a "brief" meeting and a hosted meal. October 11, 2025.
By that time, I should have a list compiled and we can vote on where the annual winter meeting can take place!
Thank you all. JM
Only place I can think that would be similar is the Mickie Grove museum in Lodi possibly?
Thank you Anthony, I keep forgetting about that place! I will look into the amenities and costs involved. My local ATHS chapter used to have their Labor Day Picnic there each year (houseflies and all LOL). That would be a good spot for many that live near that area, plus the old iron inside/outside.
Keep those ideas coming! Thx! JM
FYI, in October the past few years Mickie Grove has had their Tractor Festival where some of the local Lodi collectors bring in their Tractors. It had been sponsored by Holt of California.
Their Tractor Fest is during the tail end of Grape Harvest but I always try to make it out. Hoping to get my D2 out there this year.
This is something our chapter should look into. Some folks here are busy with their ag related jobs, but this looks too good; I will make note of the next one and perhaps someone can represent the club. Big thanks to you Anthony! JM
Oh, and thanks for the photos CR!
