I read in the latest edition of the club magazine that authorization for a 1:16 R2 model to be made was approved, does that mean no more D-9's or the R2 will be after one or two more D9's (couple of D9G's I hope anyway!!)

sydhuey, The next model introduced will be the R2. There will be at least one more D9.

I wonder which series R2 it is and if it has any attachments like a blade?

how about a true winter freighting cat with holes in the pads and such. caterpillar was a big part of winter frieighting for over 50 years. these cats ran non stop for 24 hours a day dragging sleighs through the great white north.
the RD6, D4 and the D6 9U were the most popular cats used. the D6 9U would pull 6 sleighs with 10 tons of payload on each sleigh. this gave new meaning to the words "full pull", LOL (my mentor used to leave my yard when he owned it with 2 D6 9Us and 12 sleighs and the caboose weighing in at a total weight of 193 tons. he traveled acrossed the ice to a community to delivery the goods. the D6 9U was the cat of choice for him.)
so a winter freighting cat would make for a good model to show the forgotten side of caterpillar.

any questions just email

That would be a great model! Then add some snow wings and a V plow for a second version using the same tooling.

Gavin84w, We are looking at a D9G as the next D9 model. We have some cost issues to work through. Also, there is a possibility that another scraper will follow the R2 with the D9 coming later. I don't know how that will all work out as yet.

chugwater crawlers, The primary use of the R2 was for agriculture, so it is planned to be an ag version.

KoO, We will talk about the ice tractor at the next committee meeting. It is something we had not considered. I will email you about it soon because I do have some questions.

I apologize for the delay. I have been hunting all weekend, and even though I saw the posts, I didn't take the time to respond. 😮

Lee

Lee, you always keep us informed-thanks

I personally would like to see a DW21 or 619 and the D9g is a must. An early one so you guys can also use it as a basis for the last of them and you can also do a D9h. There you are...3 models out of one set of moulds, bound to make money with this LOL

Regards
Neil

PS. The fact that I own and operate a late model D9G has absolutely nothing to do with the above suggestions!!!!!

Norscot's 09 release list shows a 966A loader in 1/50 as well. Let's hope it actually comes out.

Testimonials

"I also joined a year ago. had been on here a couple of times as a non-member and found the info very helpful so I got a one year subscription (not very expensive at all) to try it out. I really like all the resources on here so I just got a three year. I think its a very small price for what you can get out of this site."
