Have a similar response from my local cat dealer.
When you say D4 they're all happy to help, when the 5t 1600 serial number is referenced you can hear a pin drop.
They almost seem amazed that the technology existed that long ago to even build a bulldozer

Yep, same response we get in Australia, mostly they say we are just computer operators and have no idea what any of the parts relate too. It is a shame that it has got to this. The only places where we can get help is the dismantling businesses, they actually know about the machines and their components.

I have to give credit to my parts guy Eric at HO Penn cat! I needed a new 4U idler shaft--he researched and found one listed on Cleveland Bros site and no other Cat dealer--further investigated and found it was in Brazil informed me i had to order it immediately as it was being recalled by Cat as its available life was ending. Somehow he manipulated it to be sent to the US at Cats cost and then just USA shipping to his dealership
hope he never retires!!!
