I have a D4 serial number 7J25W. I’m having hard time finding part number for the gaskets that go under and on top that fiber plate on top of fuel tower. Any help would be appreciated.

Rj, for 6U, 7B 7635 (part of element assem) as per manual description, i'm not sure if 7U runs the same engine etc, my manual has no front/rear cover to give range of machine serial numbers, printed 1958, i'm not sure if you a current member to ACMOC to be able to check out library to be 100% sure

Thank you for response. 7B 7635 is a different gasket. I found a part number 5B 9831 or 5B 9733 but no pictures to make sure right ones ha. I’m gonna call local Cat store Monday see if they can maybe pull up a picture. They don’t seem to wanna help when you have an older crawler tractor ha

One of the first things that I've learned to do when working on old machinery is how to make my own gaskets. You can buy virtually any type of gasket material in sheets or rolls online and with an inexpensive hole punch set, a razor knife, some scissors and a little patience can save you a lot of time and money.

In fact earlier this week the fuel tower cap gaskets on one of my RD4s were leaking pretty good. I made up new gaskets out of some 1/16" thick rubber impregnated cork material and now no more leaks. I've made just about every kind of gasket from pony carbs to access panels and everything in between.

That is what I was planning to do next. I think this d4 has the same tower as your rd4. Mine is an early 1939 model D4

6u and 7u machines are only different in the driveline and track itself. 6u is the narrow track 7u is the wide track. engine parts are the same for both. of course mud guards are different for the wide track machines

"I also joined a year ago. had been on here a couple of times as a non-member and found the info very helpful so I got a one year subscription (not very expensive at all) to try it out. I really like all the resources on here so I just got a three year. I think its a very small price for what you can get out of this site."
