Several months ago my 3U 112 Grader wouldn't start after sitting a few weeks. I wound up bleeding all injector lines, and it fired right up. This got more and more frequent until I was bleeding them each time I started it, even it had just sat for a week. The last time I ran it, it accumalated quite a bit of fuel in the crankcase. Previously this had not been a problem. I looked over the manual for possible places fuel and oil are close, and decided to check the transfer pump seal. I got it off and the felt seal doesn't look too bad, but the shaft is a bit worn (.005"). I pulled the side cover off the injector pump housing, and it doesn't appear any fuel has been running down from worn injector pumps. Is there anywhere else to look? I have a D315 generator I was going to pull the transfer pump from and swap it over as soon as I get new gaskets for it. Any ideas are greatly appreciated.

It,s possible it could be the "O" ring seal is bad between the inj. housing and the fuel filter housing where they mate.

On my D2-5U the o-ring seals between the filter housing and the injection housing (the ones with the brass pipe in them) were old and hard which leaked fuel into the crankcase. I went to change the oil and ended up get over five gallons of fluid out of the crankcase.

It'll be the seal in between the two as stated, don't run it if you have a large quanity of fuel in the pan or you can kiss the bearings good by after it cools down and unsticks that is.

Tony, don,t worry about timing the housing when going back as it has an off set cam tang drive and can only mate to the accessory drive one way.

Just over $200 later I got new seals, gaskets, o-rings, and the expensive part, a new transfer pump drive shaft. The seal between the injector pump housing and filter housing didn't look too bad, but neither had anything else so far. Y'all forgot to mention how easy the middle nut on the back side is to remove. At any rate, finally got everything back together, changed the oil and filters and ran it for about 3 hours today. Oil level is still right on full and throttle response is different than before. I guess it has been getting air in the system for a while from somewhere. Hopefully proplem is solved. Thanks to all.

I really like all the resources on here so I just got a three year. I think its a very small price for what you can get out of this site."
