my son is getting a new natural gas furnace and giving up the old fuel oil furnace. He fill fuel oil tank couple months back. Can the furnace fuel oil work in my D69U?

yes. its number 2 diesel fuel. just dyed red for non road use. ie no fuel excise (road fuel tax) has been paid on it so don't use it in a road going vehicle. fines apply for using untaxed fuel in road going vehicles.

can be used for heating and operating off road equipment like generators, tractors, lawnmowers etc

in my country we do it differently everyone pays the excise and you claim it back at tax time.

instead of perfection some times we just have to accept practicality
