The original part number from Cat for the set was 7B8264 and I got my last set at NAPA. This is the original "sock" type. About any supply house can cross reference to them as there are several places that still can get them. Good luck on keeping the fuel clean as that is an absolute necessity. Don't remember the NAPA #.

PS:  Seat or side tank?

Hi molar,
The part number for the filters is 2A5886 x4 and you will need 2 x 7b7635 as that group number is not used now.

Both D4s have seat tanks. One is clean the other sat outside 3 yrs and developed lots OF RUST. i DON'T know for sure how to clean it. Do the best I can and install remote filter back by tank outlet. Its real bad plugs filters in a few hrs time.

do you have a mate with a steam boiler? if so remove the tank drain it and have it steam blasted. the other way is get some dog chain or a couple of handfuls of small steel nuts say 3/8 to 5/8 and chuck them in the tank with some alkaline degreaser or cleaning vinegar and roll the thing all round the yard make sure every side is well agitated. drain and repeat a few times, remove the nuts/chain then rinse with hot soapy water and let dry in the sun having a heat gun or hair dryer blowing into it will speed the dry and get it properly dry.

depends how bad it is but it might be worth treating the tank with fuel tank sealer such as red-kote or the por15 u.s standard tank sealer or a similar product.

Might be worth installing a different tank if its real bad. I see your in MN too. There is a guy in Harmony who parts out these machines and might have a replacement if you decide to go that route.

I've heard of people rigging the tank up with chanins/bolts/gravel iniside to a rear tractor tyre and driving around doing chores for a day.
Take off and drain/refill with clean diesel/reposition a few times. That's supposed to dislodge whatever rust is inside there.

thats the less labour intensive method. and it works well with square or rectangle tanks. you do need to turn it part way through so you get all sides.

I have also heard that people have rigged them up a cement mixer and let it go for the day, with nuts, bolts, chain or gravel then cleaned them out and walla loverly and clean.

Give it a good rinse and knock loose what you can with a power washer or hose. Soak in citric acid for a few days and agitating time to time. Im confident in you fellas abilities to agitate! 😁

Give it a few rinses with a pressure washer and splash around some baking soda inside when you’re done. I did my Farmall 560 this way and did great with only issue being from the baffle divider.

Keep safe!

"I also joined a year ago. had been on here a couple of times as a non-member and found the info very helpful so I got a one year subscription (not very expensive at all) to try it out. I really like all the resources on here so I just got a three year. I think its a very small price for what you can get out of this site."
