Forum issues

Hi all,

So now we’ve got the glitch with the membership side of the website sorted, I thought I’d start a wish list thread for the forum. As we know it’s had issues from the start and a lot of the functionality that the previous iteration had was missing from this version. If anyone has any suggestions for things they feel are missing please post them here. I’ll start;

Unable to post multiple photos. This has been fixed and now more than one can be added to a post. The one thing that still doesn’t work is clicking on a photo to enlarge it which is certainly something I miss, eyesight not being what it was.. 🙄

Stability; so I’ve found that unless the Cloudflare verification works as it should whatever you’ve been trying to post as a reply disappears. As a work around I tend to copy text as I go so that if it dumps I can just paste back in what I was typing. Unfortunately Cloudflare or software of its type is mandatory in these days of bot attacks. But the settings can be tweaked.

Editing; I’ve also found if you want to edit a post the edit box doesn’t automatically paste in the original text, so if you’ve a one letter typo to edit you need to have copied the original text to then paste in and edit.. clunky!

Library; We’ve had reports of docs in the Library not loading but I’ve not found this. As long as the website knows you’re a member it should work fine.

Please add to the list, venting frustration is allowed too but ideally constructive criticism here should enable us to improve things. Thanks!

First of all, thank you Deebo for taking the lead in resolving the website issues, you have done since the upgrade and it's very much appreciated.

My frustrations that remain;

There is still no button or direct link as far as I know from the discussion pages to the last post on any given topic. The website does behave somewhat differently I find when I'm logged in to what it does when I'm not logged in, I don't always log in to keep up with reading topic updates.

As you said, you can't click on pictures, but you can zoom in on them anyhow to some extent, however the ability to download a picture from a discussion thread has been lost.

I've always managed to navigate the library, but it's quite clunky by today's website standards and far from smooth and easy to operate.

I should say that I almost exclusively access the site using an Android smartphone.

Prior to the update, only threads with new messages since you last visited it, or new threads were bold. That is not the case any more, or at least doesn't seem that way for me. Also, like D8Dude mentioned, prior to the update, when you clicked on a thread you had visited before, it took you to the first unread message. Now it always goes to the first message and you have to navigate to the first unread message.

Enter key stroke, should be able to have it return 1 line not two.

Has anyone thought of a USER GUIDE for the BB and Web site? Such would most probably be helpful.

Boxes above - B I H's etc. No underline and what are the purposes of 3 heading boxes.

The last time there was an "update" and another mess with the website it cost the club $30,000.

No place in the Board minutes or any other place I can access is there an accounting for how much the Club paid for this - another secret that the membership is not allowed to know.

When you are done reading topics for that visit, go to the top of the index page and click on the "Mark as Read" box. When you come back to the site and click on a topic MOST OF THE TIME it will take you to the first unread reply. As with most things on this site it seems a bit hit or miss.

To chime in with D8Dude I prefer the last posting be displayed when clicking on a thread. It should do this automatically.

Is there a way to automatically save ones typing because it is disheartening to wax eloquently for several minutes, only to have it completely disappear.

It would surely dress up the forum site if there was a small "tape" across the top depicting show photos or members Cats and equipment. Now it is just plain Jane.
