Glen,

Are you up for another rescue? This old girl was left behind after WWII. Even the blade has rusted away! I think those birds have pecked the tracks away too!

Pat,

I have NEVER seen a steel blade so completely gone! Is this sitting near salt water? What a relic.

This is on a very small island in the South Pacific. Baker Island. Had a 5500 foot runway to support P-40's and B-24's. The article I read said there was several pieces of heavy equipment. But I have only found that picture. I'm sure it was used to build the runway.

I too have never seen one so rotted away. They must have salvaged the tracks from that one.

The whole island is only 306 acres, so there's nowhere to hide from the salt air. I think that poor ol' Cat is even a little too gone to be saved by Glen. 😞

Thanks for the photo Pat in WI.
I followed the link Walt D7 3T put up and found the same photo but with better resolution.
Definitely a D7 . Probably a 7M but impossible to tell. Seems to be fitted with a Eisemann Mag and the right track can be seen layed out on the ground . Remnants of the LeTourneu Over head gear and DDPCU are visible. Air cleaner pipe can be seen next to the rusted carrier roller.
Certainly an interesting thread ,.
