Ah that's a shame. That was a good business for the Cat collector community. I guess it was bound to happen sometime
Hopefully maybe another company or someone may "buy out" the remaining inventory for resale.
Dana and Dennis have been such a great help to me regarding our 4R D6. Because of their inventory and their connections to other parts suppliers, I've been spoiled by the availability of parts and wind up surprised when it turns out a certain part is unavailable.
Very sad news on the one hand, but on the other, I wish both Mr. Mayes and Mr. Carroll all the best. I still have a year left to pester them.
Sad to hear.
Coincidentally, I spoke with and emailed Dana about grader parts earlier this morning. He didn't mention the closure, but I don't doubt what has been reported.
I only live an hour away from Florin Tractor and loosing that valuable resource for vintage Cat parts will be a real loss to the community and me. I thank Dana for his years of service, and I wish him well in the future; I will let him know that privately as well.
Hate to hear that news, Dennis and Dana and everyone there was always super helpful. I loved touring their yard.. treasures everywhere. Tough to hear that a lot of the old stuff will be scrapped. Understandable given the price of scrap, though..
Scrapped!!!!!!!! WHY?????????? There is demand for those parts!!!!! Sell the whole lot then to another parts dealer. I guess this country really is going to hell !!!!!!!!!
scrap prices are heading down fast. maybe the parts can be salvaged?
Dennis told me that they’re hoping to get as much of the remaining inventory into the hands of other parts businesses as possible, and that scrapping or disposing of the remaining stock is only a last resort. I apologize if the wording of my first posting led to any misunderstandings.
