Today was a government allowed burn day so I pushed a few piles of brush and logs together for burning. About every hour I consolidate the pile with the dozer to keep it burning. It can get mighty hot so I get in and out quickly.

It’s not fair that you get to play with a dozer AND burn brush!
Around here, we have to call into the local air quality district with a paid permit number to light anything (that is permissible) OMG the restrictions nowadays.
That’s a nice dozer you have there. Is that the dual start one you mentioned? I am gathering parts to do a 7U with pony and DE.
Great way to get some fresh air. Looks like plenty of fun. Thanks for sharing.

Hi Bob,
You have the nice bed of coals -
Need Steaks, Marshmallows and company now!

Takes me back a long time - be careful, don't "kill her" when you in the fire!

Thanks for sharing.

I'm envious. One of my most fun pastimes. Always have lots of water and a extinguisher about just in case a spark lands in the wrong spot on the dozer. We are lucky here. Burn permits are free, good for 48 hours when no snow and conditions are favorable to burn. In the winter with snow cover, no permits are necessary for brush or any organic material.

Hi, O-I-H.
Does the ease of obtaining burn permits around your way have anything to do with trying to decrease the Mozz-skeet-OHs? LOL.

Looks like a nice clean pile, I bet if you keep it punched up it will burn to nothing.

Hi, Paso Bob.
Looks like fun - even if also having the potential to leave one looking a past president of the U.S..

Have you ever thought of rigging a glass or perspex temporary windshield above the hood for that work - doesn't need to be huge, only about head high, and deflects a LOT of the heat. Much like the windshields that you sometimes see rigged behind the operator's seats on push cats used for tandem pushing - rarer these days with the bigger dozers.

Just my 0.02.

JM, It is the one I'm going to make a dual start. I plan to take it out of service later this summer and work on the pony engagement. I have to hold it in gear while turning the diesel over. I'm hoping to repair it by pulling the clutch deck cover. Fortunately it starts super fast. It is very late in the series and has plate with bolts for mounting the starter. OM supplied me with the DE conversion parts. CTS, I know exactly what you mean about not killing it while in the hot pile. I came close a couple of years ago and it made a believer out of me. DPete, There are only a few pieces left and I pushed them again today.

I really enjoy burning brush and stumps too. I guess it's similar to Cat fever...

Always wear your seat belt so 8 of them don't team up and grab you, carry you over, and dump you in the fire. :lie: :lie:

Hi, O-I-H.
Aw, that ain't nuthin. The airport at Darwin in the Northern Territory of Downunda share its facilities with the Royal Australian Air Force. One day, there was a LOTTTT of aircraft traffic, civilian and air force, at the airport and the aircraft refuellers were flat out like a lizard drinking. So much so that they had pumped 120 gallons into one 'aircraft' in the line-up before they realised that it was a mosquito.

Now I myself find that a little hard to believe. If they had said 100 gallons - or just MAYBE even 110 gallons - I could possibly have worn it. But I think 120 gallons is stretching things a bit.

Another rather more believable tale about the mosquitoes around Darwin involves two blokes camping out on a fishing trip. The very first night, one of them woke up in the tent to the sound of quiet voices outside the tent. He very gently peeled back the tent flap and saw two mosquitoes there in the moonlight about 20 yards away. Right at that moment, one of the mosquitoes said to the other one, "Should we eat them here or should we take 'em down to the swamp?" The other mosquito replied, "We'd better eat 'em here. If we take 'em down to the swamp, the big ones might take them away from us."

HONEST!
