maybe that kid could have been bob lavoie i suspect if that is the tractor it wound up in california i remember a 10 ton with a cab at a farm in albert lea minn it had a cab i just remember bits and pieces of this story so hope it might help thanks chuck
Bob Lavoie sold Ted Segerstorm of Orange
County California a very nice 10 Ton with a cab in the 80's. A word of caution, lavoie's clients usually ended up unhappy.
This may be two separate deals but it sounds like the deal of two collectors trying to get the same machine here in WI. But it was not that long ago. That tractor also was in the Symco area.
The one that left not that long ago? do you know its story?
Ive heard that my grandpas was possibly sold to someone not far from symco. maybe the Marshfield area... so it could have been resold a number of years later.
Im very grateful for the responses thus far. if anyone wants to reach out to me with other information:
my email is [email protected] and my phone number is 715-281-3330 for call or text. or reply on here and I will check it as often as I can.
my aunt thinks she has some pictures of the crawler before and after its restoration. this would have been a few years prior to its sale so I will post those as soon as I can.
Thanks again for all the help!
Andy
tw the lavoie/segerstrom deal was in the early 2000's the deal you bring up happened about 3/4 years ago and i believe the tractor was a Best not a Holt Andy's family tractor deal went thru several hands before it was done i hope to have my thoughts in order thanks chuck
Well its funny you should mention that... My uncle owned a Best 60 which was sold a few years ago. it was all black with a cab on it. this was my grandpas brother. they also owned an Allis Chalmers model K which is apparently sold but still sits at the grounds.
those two liked big iron for some reason. as I am sure many people on this page can relate.

The one I am thinking about had a lot of press on here. My neighbor down the road said it was promised to him. The family put it up for sale and some one seen the ad in Wisc Farmer and told a collector in CA and he bought it. I think it now resides in CA.

I had a lady contact me trying to find her dad's Best sent me some pictures of it. It was near Parkfalls, I heard it went the same way with Bob L
Wow seeing and reading this thread makes me want a Lost and Found section. A section dedicated to finding lost kitties and the stories of specific kitties in the past. Once found a new magazine section can be devoted to stories of the travels of our poor lost kitties and their many adoptions and "Dr" visits in their lifetime with their many adoptive parents.
I think I heard a saying on here about just my 2 cents worth. Not sure if American 2 cents is worth the same or less as the fellow collector's land who says it.
Sorry it fell out!
