Did they have two different types of exhaust pipe that comes up out of the hood for pony motor on the 9u? The one I have comes straight up and the cross brace on the hard nose hits it. Did they make one that comes up and has a curve to it and then goes straight up to go around the cross piece?

check your hardnose mounts and your engine mounts. is something moving that should'nt be? there isn't alot of clearance for the exhaust pipe of the pony but there should be enough. to prevent touching.

The pony exhaust on my 9U has a curve and comes up right in front of the cross member without hitting it. Maybe you can fabricate one. I Have searched quite a bit and cannot find any pony exhaust pipes or manifolds for the D318 pony.

Make sure the cross brace is installed correctly with the the long side of the mounting flanges facing forward.

The pony exhaust on mine came straight up and didn't have the curve in it. I don't know if it's because it came off a power unit is why it was straight and didn't have a curve in it. I fabricated it to have the curves and works just fine now! Thanks for the information

"I also joined a year ago. had been on here a couple of times as a non-member and found the info very helpful so I got a one year subscription (not very expensive at all) to try it out. I really like all the resources on here so I just got a three year. I think its a very small price for what you can get out of this site."
