Hi Macca,
Looks good to me๐ ๐........ and I like the precautions you take to keep various openings sealed up. The caps on the injectors pumps are standard 3/8" 37 deg (JIC)(9/16-18 thread) if any one is interested.
Also you can just make out the bellhousing location where the usual direct start would go and see that the raised boss does not exist on the 4G and it will not accommodate the direct start conversions.
Nice to know what the fitting is on the pumps. I might even get some caps for my service work next time. I've been shoving a fuel hose over a pump and clamping it, doing the same with other end of the hose. Like 1 & 3 in one hose and 2 & 4 in another short piece. It works, but not as well. And no class whatever!
Jack
Thanks Old Magnet,
may just get to start up the engine next weekend after I make up a bottom radiator pipe๐
Although the hood needs a little modifing from the sheet metal shop๐![]()
Macca, you've come a long way. Looks good! GWH
Macca, have you started your 4g yet, I have a rd4 4g, doesn't start good, wounders if you did any thing with your injection pumps, if you were able to get any new parts for them, I'm looking for lifters if you know of any
thanks,
your 4g looks great, good luck
G'day r4pat,
Haven't started the old girl yet, I had to make up a new bottom radiator pipe for it. After I made it and fitted it up, I filled all the oils in the pinion clutch, pilot motor, main engine and injection pump. I started to fill the radiator with water and it started to come out of the top radiator pipe where it joins on top of the water pump and back to the head, so I made up another gasket and refitted, tightened it up and one of the bolt holes that was repaired before that bolt onto the water pump broke again, ๐ so off it came again and I brazed it up, waited for it to cool and bolted her back up again. Filled with water and now it leaks between the pony adn block.๐ ๐ ๐ aargh I say. I thought that the seal between the pony and block was obselete so I ahd made up my own o-ring, but ckecked and they are still available through cat for $7.00.๐ ๐ ๐ ๐ so hopefully this weekend she is watertight and I can start her up. I may even try to get a video onto YouTube๐
Macca,
Good Luck, BTW please take a video of the startup and post it for us. We'd all love it!!!!
here are a couple of pics of my progress, still got a fair bit of the fiddly stuff to do though๐

That is a thing of beauty to be sure. Excellent job! Ditto on the video with sound? Did you end up installing new liners and pistons in her?
