Hi, the 943 1982 cat engine is faulty.
It seems that a piston does not explode properly
It seems that the smoke comes out of the oil filling.
What could have happened?
Does the engine start with a broken cylinder or perhaps the piston rings?

Thanks

That blowby doesn't seem too bad, but the chuffing sound right at the end of the video sounds like a burnt or stuck exhaust valve. I'd look at the valve clearances first to verify that they are all within specifications, and if they are, then you might need to remove the exhaust manifold and start it up again to identify which cylinder has the problem. Then you can remove the cylinder head and repair the valve(s) on that cylinder.

Hi, and that smoke coming out of the cap?
Could it be the valve?
The machine is for sale.
I need to figure out if it's worth taking.

Smoke from the cap is unlikely to be coming from a burnt valve. That would more likely be blowby past the piston rings. I wouldn't touch the piston rings yet - look into the valves first because that would be an easier fix than piston rings. Easy to remove the head and fix the valves.

have you checked the crankcase breather for clogging? the blow by doesn't seem too bad--that funny noise on shutdown is kind of common--my 941b has been doing it for over 30 years

hello , the engine has difficulty igniting. As in the video we must insist.
It looks like it runs on 3 cylinders.
Could it be an open cylinder or a broken piston?
Or just piston rings?
As already said I have to decide whether to buy it or not.
Thanks ...Simo

Do a leak down test or compression test on the suspect cylinder.
That's a 3204 engine, only uses two rings per piston (upgrade to three) no cylinder sleeves are used so engine would need to be bored oversize if bore is worn.

Not familiar with the 3204 but if there is a tube running from the valve rocker cover down the side of the engine and open to the air, that's it

It is one half of the 3208 engine.
