That,s quite a hauler there to carry the old Gen. Set around on.Years ago we had lots of the old D17000s in the area here in drag lines for power & I rebuilt many of them for the customers. Also there was a R.R. Co. near the N.Y.state line that had a few locomotives with two D17000s Gen. Sets in them for power & I rebuilt several of them for the R.R, Co. about 30 yrs. ago. They used the generators some how to motorize them to turn the diesels over for starting so no starting engine was needed on them.I saw very few regular Gen. Sets around here in use back in their day. They sure were a little different engine the way they were made with 8 heads & 4 cyl.blocks & 1 crankcase block.
