East Peoria Celebrates a 100-Year Partnership

East Peoria, Illinois, October 2009 — The city of East Peoria invites the public to join them in a celebration of 100 years of Industry and Ingenuity, commemorating Holt Caterpillar locating their manufacturing facilities in East Peoria, IL.

Bring a blanket and have fun at this old-fashioned family picnic event at Riverfront Park on October 25, 2009 from 2:00 to 6:00 PM.

Highlights of the afternoon include:
o More than a dozen antique Caterpillar tractors provided by the Antique Caterpillar Machinery Owners Club (ACMOC) ranging in years from 1912 to 1950s, including a 1912 Holt 60 – the oldest Caterpillar tractor built in East Peoria and the only one known to exist today.
o Mayor Mingus will share a welcome message.
o Caterpillar Inc. will share highlights from the last 100 years of Caterpillar track-type tractors.
o Food and beverages will be available for purchase.
o Entertainment throughout the afternoon.

ACMOC promotes the collection, preservation, restoration, display, and study of products and memorabilia of Caterpillar and its related predecessors. Whether you own antique Caterpillar machinery, or simply have an interest in the history behind it, ACMOC offers something for everyone.

Bring the whole family to East Peoria’s beautiful Riverfront Park for this one-of-a-kind centennial celebration.

Tommy likes to display his truck and Bill's grader. He got the idea from a photo of a semi hauling a grader years ago that he found some place, which turned out to Chapter 4's Mike Furgason's machine when he was in business for himself, small world. That is also the First Grader Tricia Potts learned to run. Yes we still have copies of the photos tucked away.It was nice to talk to Lee and some of you today.

My wife is orginally from the Peoria Area. We stopped and visited her one uncle and aunt before heading home. Did not want to get home too late. Nice event. I hope they have more like it in the future.

Thanks to all who attended the 100 Year Anniversary of the Holt Plant celebration in East Peoria on Sunday.

A special thanks to these club members who displayed equipment at the event: Bill Hanson, Bill Peterson, Bob Stewart, Mike and Matt Dumolien, Tom Stanesa, Tommy Bronge, Bill Shuldt, Dick & Chuck Riggert, and Bruce Vinkler.

Also a special thanks to those of you who gave up your day to help out in the tent and with other tasks: Dave Tallon, Kent Bates, Bruce Vinkler, and my wife Phyllis.

Thanks Tricia for all your work in preparation and for giving up your Sunday to be present and work the tent.

Regards,
Lee

PS. To Erik Christenbury, Tricia was in charge of the signs. You can call her at 309/691-5002.

Testimonials

"I also joined a year ago. had been on here a couple of times as a non-member and found the info very helpful so I got a one year subscription (not very expensive at all) to try it out. I really like all the resources on here so I just got a three year. I think its a very small price for what you can get out of this site."
