I have an early D6 CAT tractor 2H7063. I lost my manuals in the Park Fire and I cant remember where the trans. oil level on the dipstick (next to shift lever) should be as there is no mark like on a fuel tank dipstick. Anybody out there know where on the trans. dip stick the oil level should be? Also, anybody know what year manufacture this tractor was?

No dip stick. A pipe plug on the right side of the case. It has been 30 years since I work on 2H D6. So hopefully not mixing it with another tractor. I believe you can see the plug by removing the seat and looking down on a 2H D6, but I know I can on my AC HD 5. So maybe I am wrong. But I am sure all I have looked at had a pipe plug with square head sticking out so easy to find on the side of the case.

I have filled trans to plug on side case but that confused me as nothing shows up on that dip-stick going down from the top. So what is that dip stick for?

Where are you finding a dip stick? Is it on plug you remove on top to add oil?

"I also joined a year ago. had been on here a couple of times as a non-member and found the info very helpful so I got a one year subscription (not very expensive at all) to try it out. I really like all the resources on here so I just got a three year. I think its a very small price for what you can get out of this site."
