Was very surprised to see a picture of a Holt tractor on the Dutch site of national archive.
There was no description of the photo, only Photo collection Dutch Heidemaatschappij.
Then my curiosity was only really awakened.

Nederlandse Heidemaatschappij
On 5 January 1888, NHM was established with the aim of advising on and stimulating the exploitation of wastelands, the construction and maintenance of forests and the construction and maintenance of irrigation and soil improvement works. In 1897, there was still the development and improvement of the freshwater fishery. The work quickly expanded from advising to carrying out work. Clients from outside the member base were also served. This created an ideal association with a commercially functioning work apparatus. However, the association's association with the 'general benefit' objective and the market-oriented work organization was increasingly seen as problematic. That is why NV Heidemaatschappij Beheer was established in 1972 as an independent work organization with the association (now Royal) as sole shareholder. With this privatization, the association (KNHM) developed a new policy that focused on the areas of focus of land development, living environment and the environment.

Looked further and there was a picture 2 of the front, nice but this did not yet confirm that this Holt worked in the Netherlands.

But on picture 3 of the back are the letters NHM, so yes a Holt in the Netherlands.
With the enlargement of photo 1, NV NHM Arnhem also appeared on the side of the roof.

Now the no on the front must be sorted out. M-2472
Provincial number certificates (1906-1951)
A series
B series
D series
E-series
G series
H-series
K series
L series
M series
N series
P series
R series

M-series stands for the province of Gelderland, let this now also be the place Arnhem where the head office of the NHM is located, so riddle solved.
I have made some inquiries, but there is no one who can remember anything about this tractor or has ever heard anything about it.

That’s really neat Quad, hopefully you can track down something more about what happened to it.

Really nice pictures too.

Maybe NHM got it surplus from US, British or French military after WWI? Pictures are very clear.

Thanks for posting Quad. Good mystery.

Testimonials

"I also joined a year ago. had been on here a couple of times as a non-member and found the info very helpful so I got a one year subscription (not very expensive at all) to try it out. I really like all the resources on here so I just got a three year. I think its a very small price for what you can get out of this site."
