It has not rained here for so long, he must have thought , i have to get that blade in the dirt while it is still damp. Problem is it rained all the next day. I did the same thing on my side of the hill. I did some rough in work on 1/2 mile of road. Then i caught a cold. Then it rained for another day. My grader is waiting for me to get better and for some dry weather. My neighbors that also use the road are probably fuming.
Dear Deas
That “number cruncher” comment is soooo correct – You could outfit him with one of your “glow” shirts and tie him to the seat of a grader that is not on my property (Santa Margarita) until he gets it right. Then, he can come to my drive way. You would have my undying gratitude.
Dear d4e
Where do I get lime?! The 450/555 is really a 350BB and do you want to buy it?? Perhaps I could just go back and forth a few extra times.

I believe that the reason that he left the driveway in such a “mess” the day before Christmas (when I had 20 guests coming for Christmas dinner the next day) is because I asked him to teach me to drive the Peterbilt. I was way too old to pick up that many layers of hand eye and foot co ordination. But he persisted until I got my class A license. So I can’t complain if he is more than a little resentful. So, I am Trucker 20,000,001. Ha!

You are right about the rain! We had had 2 inches of rain. At Santa Margarita, look for him tied into the seat of Tom’s 12 grader, wearing a glow vest and a funny Australian hat. Please take him in hand.

This was the first time in seven years that I had seen 2 inches of rain come down in one storm. (I thought that it was the end of the Earth as it exists today.)
Also, I was very distracted because I was cooking for Christmas. I kept hearing the engine of the grader purring around. When I finally came out, I saw the mess that you saw in the pictures. Oh well!!
Gee Old iron habit
I hear that you guys really do live at the ends of the earth. I saw pictures and I am really jealous of everything except the COLD. I would love to know how to grade my drive way. BUT remember the learning curve! I brought GP to tears a couple of times

I have to learn to “back drag”. Then, I could smooth my own drive way. Remember that I only have Pete to teach me. That could be a problem.

I like your style!! That’s what I’ll have to do. Crack some eggs.

I think you are exactly right. I hope you get to feeling better and get your driveway road cleaned up for you and your neighbors. GP said that you have a neat Jeep. Pete was raised on Jeeps. He and I have made about 6 trips through the Rubicon with ours when he was a toddler. CJ anything with Chev 327s and 283s in them. Pete’s granddad was a pretty sharp mechanic and he taught GP’s father. Here’s a picture of one of our Jeeps from about 1960, Meyers top and all, going through Rubicon. His granddad would build them up, shake them down and sell them to all the Sheriff’s Posse guys from Placerville, Auburn and around the Sierras.
