When you disconnect the oil pressure gauge and fuel pressure gauge, what do you use to cap off the lines to keep oil or fuel from leaking out?

If you have an extra adapter ell, use it with a pipe cap.

The problem I have is I have no clue what the size of the connections are.

I looked at the gauges in my parts book and I don't think the gauges match, but the parts book seems to suggest they may be 1/4" or 1/8"

I can probably hit the hardware store if those are the sizes and get some pipe extensions and/or caps. I just do not know what size would be the proper size.

-i find 1/8" pipe thread is super common for small lines and fittings...that's where a small box of misc fittings comes in handy...brass, copper, stainless...whatever....and if i don't find something that threads...i just use a plastic cap or plug...and press it on snug...

I use electrical tape as it can be stretched tight!

Ok, I might have inferred the question incorrectly, I was thinking he wanted to run the engine with the gages removed, so if not, just tape them up. Sometimes I just pull a small square of plastic over the line fitting and all then tape around the knob.

Haha, yeah. I may try to build a little kit from the hardware store, but could maybe do the electrical tape thing.

Testimonials

"I also joined a year ago. had been on here a couple of times as a non-member and found the info very helpful so I got a one year subscription (not very expensive at all) to try it out. I really like all the resources on here so I just got a three year. I think its a very small price for what you can get out of this site."
