Well Im down to just the wiring on my direct electric start converson, but now for some reason I have blanked out for lack of a better term.
I have a push button starter like what they used to have on the old super M's,
Now my thinking is run a hot line from positive side of battery to one side of the switch, and simply run a hotline from the other side of the switch down to the solenoid of the starter.
Am I correct?
I have no idea why I have spaced out on this part of the project so bad.
Forgot to mention it is a 12volt starter
you have to be certain the switch is rated for the full load amperage of the starter. not sure what starter was used on a Super M, i have some older JD's and i have operated some older IH farmalls that have a push button switch mounted directly on the starter, some were operated witha pedal, some with a long rod you pulled on and others just by depressing the button by hand, they had a lug on the starter for the positive cable and that was all you needed.
most modern starters have a solenoid that has the positive lead from the battery connected to the large terminal on the solenoid, and then you ran a secondary positive wire from the battery through a momentary contact switch, to the S terminal of the solenoid to get it to engage and crank over.
