Taking a stab at a fair value, maybe $2,500
Given location, transport costs to potential buyers and market conditions it is whatever the market is willing to pay.
Maybe 3,000 is OK. I suggested 2,500, but we all know it is no science. Thanks Cat-Iron.
Thanks for the responses. I just wanted a general idea. Cat-Iron you are correct they want $3000 and would have liked to get $4000. One family member talks about hauling it away for scrap if they don't get what they want. 😞 He says he can get $190 a ton, so he's willing to let it go for scrap for less than half of what they want from a collector? 😕
Bob, If I don't get it bought I will put you in touch with the owners. I think this tractor is certainly to good to get cut up for scrap so I sure hope that if I don't buy it someone does. The person that put me in touch with this tractor is a friend of the family and is trying to get it bought on my behalf. I am on the fence about the price but was a little put off by the attidude about cutting it up for scrap. It seemed to me that if they are going to take less than what they want, they would rather let it get cut up than have someone buy it to restore. As a collector it saddens me to see any old tractors go to the scrap man that have good useable parts on them, let alone a restoreable tractor. Unfortunately my funds and space are limited so I can't buy everything I'd like to. I'll let you know what happens. Thanks for your interest and advice. Tailseat 22
I committed to buy this tractor today. The family that has it supposedly contacted a collector on the east coast this week who told them it was very rare and valuable. After talking to this person they decided that if I did not buy it the next person would have to give $4000. My contact thinks the talk about scrapping was their attempt to get me to pay their price to save it from the scrap man. Thanks to all for your input. Tailseat 22
