Can anyone tell me what the part numbers are for a diesel forty fuel and oil filter? The 1A1874 fuel filter is discontinued and can anyone cross reference the 12002 purlator filter?
Thanks,

In my 2H D6, i found Hastings LF322 is a direct replacement for the oil filter, avail at O'reillys. Fuel filters are a Baldwin F919-C

Check these numbers out and you should find they will work...

The original filters fitted to these tractors are made from copper?
They are designed to be washed clean and re installed.

As I understand it, you can replace the filter housing with one that uses available filters, or clean the original filters, or find original filters if yours are missing. I have found several machines that were missing the fuel filters completely. The smaller fuel filters that thread in have a steel knob that is vulnerable to corrosion, and the thin brass leaves that comprise the element get damaged.

Thanks for the info. After getting the Hastings and Baldwin numbers I was able to cross back to Cat numbers which are still available.

Looks like your tractor was already converted.

This is what your filters should look like if it is still original.
The filter housing would have to be changed to use the filters you have shown.
I have seen where incorrect filters have been dropped into housings without any thought and they are just sitting there not doing anything with the oil by passing them.
If your engine has the original washable elements , treat them like gold and be very careful with them.

Andrew, wondering on the operation of those units. Are the leaves just a little crinkled so that they can pass oil down to xxx thousandths? How thick is each leaf?

The first photo shows the fuel filters. They are a spiral ribbon construction. The ribbon has little bumps in it to keep them apart. In the picture from the part's book the lower filters at an angle are like secondary filters. I guess they have smaller bumps in them. If the tractor in question has the filter canisters as in the parts book photos , I don't see how the elements purchased can work .

Edit: I might have primary and secondary around the wrong way.

Here are a few pictures I took of the diesel forty this weekend at the Texas Early Day Tractor and Engine Association show in Temple Texas. I know the tracks are on backwards, they were that way when I got it. Ran out of time and didn't get them turned. Does anybody have any info or specs on the hydraulic unit? The show was a lot of fun, we had our first chapter meeting and signed up a few more members.

"I also joined a year ago. had been on here a couple of times as a non-member and found the info very helpful so I got a one year subscription (not very expensive at all) to try it out. I really like all the resources on here so I just got a three year. I think its a very small price for what you can get out of this site."
