Hi Team,
there were never any specs that I have been able to find written in any of my literature. Being that the D8800 (D7) is a bigger bore--5 3/4" version of the D7700 (D50) 5 1/2" this chart for the D8800 should get you there.
Retorque the heads again after the first run and again after some 50 hours of operation as the old copper asbestos gaskets shrink after heating/cooling cycles. That is, the head gaskets will weep.
Cheers,
Eddie B.

An old CAT mechanic told me:

1 200# man + 1 2' long wrench + pull as hard as you can = head specs

Has always worked well for me.

Once again you have helped keep a machine rolling. I thank you.

Interesting they introduced a pre tightening stage when the 315 came in. Different head gasket ? They end up at the same !

Testimonials

"I also joined a year ago. had been on here a couple of times as a non-member and found the info very helpful so I got a one year subscription (not very expensive at all) to try it out. I really like all the resources on here so I just got a three year. I think its a very small price for what you can get out of this site."
