It looks like the fully loaded number would be a 7412. Does that sound right?
6,000 series bearings are deep grove ball bearings and 7,000 series are angular contact ball bearings and are are in a match set that have a specific orientation. They are mounted either face to face (DF) or back to back (DB) depending on design considerations, be warned installing them in the wrong order will cause you problems:)
I picked up an angular contact bearing for the thrust bearing in the Twenty Two. The current one is a bit crunchy to say the least.
Cr if I’m understanding you correctly, if I use an angular contact bearing on the pinion side I should also use an angular contact bearing on the other end of the shaft? I already have new bearings for the rest of the transmission and they’re all direct replacements for what the parts book calls for. The original bearings in this tractor are all in really good shape with exception of the pinion bearing. It has a fair amount of movement. I really appreciate everyone’s help with this.
Mike I don’t have enough experience to give you advice on this transmission, but I do know you can not just drop an angular contact in place of a deep grove bearing in most applications and expect great success, proper preload and orientation is very important on an angular contact ball bearing.
That makes sense. I’ll just stick with the deep groove ball bearing and see what I can come up with. Thank you for the help.
