If it came out of a D315 and has the RH Helical drive gear it should be good to go back into an early D4 or D6.....what are you looking to do with it??

Hello Pete.I want to put it on a d4 7j.The gear on the starter is straight cut teeth. I have a flywheel off of a d2 5j & the teeth on it is at a angle, does the d4 have the same teeth angle on it.I put the flywheel & starter together & it doesnt look like the teeth mesh together very well. What projects have you been working on? I sent you some pics about a year ago,did you get them?
Thanks Joe

Hi RR Joe,
Yes, it has been a while...I'm pretty sure I got the pictures๐Ÿ˜Š ๐Ÿ˜Š
If that starter came out of a D315 (you wrote c315???) it should already be the angled teeth unless someone changed the ring gear.
Your 7J will be angled teeth so you will have to get the conversion helical drive gear. Can't tell what you have for a nose housing but normally that requires the conversion model also.

Finally finished the hydraulics for the 3-point and just about to mount the ROPS cage on one of the D4's......lots of house stuff too (yuk!!!)
Metal buildings next๐Ÿ˜Š ๐Ÿ˜Š

Pete the starter came out of a truck Cat engine,my son gave it to me.He didnt have to send it in for a core.Seems to work fine by hooking it to a battery. On the nose cone I have a note that says you can cut it at a 145 degree to make it work,is this right.
I built a 30x40 Cat house for my toys, still could use more room.Put a metal roof on it.pulled each piece up with a rope & c clamp. Used tgis to cover the walls, will put metal over them.
Have a canopy off a D47u I want to puton my D4 when I get around to it .How do you get into your direct electric start website?
Thanks Joe

Depending on what nose it is you might be able to grind the heck out of it to fit and clear the flywheel and still maintain front support, never tried and the correct nose is only about $50.
Here is the starter info site:

Yes, the shop/buildings are never large enough.
I'm going to do modules of approx 20' x 30' using 2" pipe frame with angle iron purlins and galv. corrugated sheeting. The prototype I am assembling now is approx 13' x 20' which allows me to maximize the use of 21' pipe sections.

RRJoe: Long time no see! How are you and that old D4 getting along? Just recently bought an old D4-5T in a basket. Just getting it put back together now. Wish it started as easy as that 7J of yours. I just seen your post and had to say hi ๐Ÿ˜„

"I also joined a year ago. had been on here a couple of times as a non-member and found the info very helpful so I got a one year subscription (not very expensive at all) to try it out. I really like all the resources on here so I just got a three year. I think its a very small price for what you can get out of this site."
