Does anyone know what the difference is in the decal kits from the club between 1955 and 1956 for the d6? I'm wondering if its when they changed from caterpillar diesel on the hood to just plain caterpillar, or could it be a difference in the cat d6 insignias? kind of like the old style better.

Whiteiron: Here are the key differences in the 1956 decals.

- Caterpillar" font changed to all capital letters
- "Diesel" no longer used
- Address decal changed to "Made by ....."
- "CAT" font changed
- "D6" font changed
- Safety decal changed to black/white border

Also the placement of the decals on the hood is different.

I noticed that there is no decal set for a 955, any model. I am rebuilding my 955H and will be needing a decal kit. I haven't checked with Cat yet but the way they have discontinued most of the parts it won't supprise me if they don't have the decals either.

Thanks for the info kcb, I guess i'll have to decied which ones I like better, mine is a 1956 model but I guess if I like the earlier version it still would be acceptable to the purists, not that it really matters much 👍

I could use a set for my 955H as well.

Top seat is the standard configuration, tail seat is when the seat is lower and sticks out the back of the tractor over the drawbar to make a low clearance machine. Usually also includes the exhaust pipe out the bottom and a fairing over the air intake precleaner so limbs don't catch on it.
D2-5J's, D6-9U's, D318 and D333 power units, 12E-99E grader, 922B & 944A wheel loaders, D330C generator set, DW20 water tanker and a bunch of Jersey cows to take care of in my spare time😄

Testimonials

"I also joined a year ago. had been on here a couple of times as a non-member and found the info very helpful so I got a one year subscription (not very expensive at all) to try it out. I really like all the resources on here so I just got a three year. I think its a very small price for what you can get out of this site."
