Nice looking 2H. I will look through my late 3 cyl sales books and try to scan you the photos.
SN-2H5157W figure this might help . thanks tom it's all most finished ,just got to keep on it .
looks good, it makes a differance when you have a really nice machine to start with. Great paint job. I will also check my records to see if i can find anything showing decal placement.

Got my decal kit from ACMOC a couple of weeks ago and let them sit under some books to get flat. I did not have the before pics when i put them on the back of the seat. When I got home to look at the pics I decided that something was wrong and it didn't look the same (caterpillar diesel). My parts book calls for 2 1/2 high letters and what I got with the kit are 3in high. I just want it to look factory. Kathy at acmoc said I got what the kit called for but they do have the 2 1/2 in ones that are in the parts book, even the same part number. She is going to talk to the people who pick the sticker kits for each tractor and figure out why these are not the same as the parts book and send me the right ones. I still need to peal these ones off of the back of the seat box. All of the rest of the decals mach the part numbers out of the book besides the big CATERPILLAR DIESEL on the back seat and the sides of the hood. Still looking for some good pics of original placement of transfers on the tractor.![]()
just a note from my past experiance,
when you line up the decals be sure to measure from the actual letters not the paper backing. I did that and the diesel decal did not line up with the caterpillar decal. It was an oversight on my part and I thought i would share that info.
Your machine looks great and i wish you the best of luck keep up the good work.
Moulding: Nice job on restoration. Attached is a side view photo of D6 (2H) like yours - note the decal location. I can't find a rear view photo, but back of seat placement should be:
(near top)..............................=D6=
(center)..............................Caterpillar
(two lines)..............................Diesel
(near bottom)....................Manufactured by
(two lines).............Caterpillar Tractor Co. Peoria, ILL.![]()
thank you KCB that is just what I was looking for . As you can see in your pick the letters are smaller and sorter than the ones that I got from acmoc . Now I am positive that the decals should be pn.8b87 (caterpillar) & 7b9975 (diesel) 2 1/2 in .The pervious transfers on my seat box must have ben wrong ? Now I just need to order the right ones and get them on level this time .
Got the decals from acmoc on the hood and back of the seat on and I think it looks great. The acmoc staff were a very big help on this and even went out of their way on their own time to help me with the decals. Thanks to everyone that helped me. Let me know what you think of the pictures.![]()
Moulding:
GREAT looking D6. Do you have the lower engine 3 piece set of sheet metal? If not I believe Steve Weaver and George Rankin make repo sets that would nicely complete the restoration. You have a tractor to be proud of.
