You only need two tools in life - WD-40 and Duct tape. If it doesn't move and should, use the WD-40 If it shouldn't move and does, use the duct tape.

Fresh paint is nice but always a little suspect.
Don't like the oil leaks weeping from final drive housing and out board bearings.
Pictures cut off where you need to look , like how far forward are the front idlers, how many cracks in the ripper sockets, track frames, etc.
On the plus side it does not appear to be beat to death considering the age of the machine, rails "look" good but need measuring.

Spent 40 plus years either running those old girls or working around them. Was my favorite tractor to run.I think Old Magnet said it right fresh paint kinda scars me.I sold all of ours in there working clothes. That way the buyer can see what is leaking and whats not.I would be more afraid of the main frame of the tractor being crack then anything else.We were doing what Cat calls certified rebuilds long before they started doing them.Wewould bring one of our 9's into the shop and tear it down right to the bear frame and start from there.Hell if it runs it worth the price in parts. The U/C has to be around 40-50 thousand. The finals must be at close to $4000 per side now.

Ha! I got a good chuckle when I looked at the listing and it says for Shipping: "Free local pickup".

Nothing is free when it comes to picking up and hauling that beast.

Happy Friday!

Hi, Folks.
I had to chuckle at the "May not ship to Australia." Why NOT? Do I detect some discrimination happening here? Is he afraid that it'll fall off? Why? Nothing else has - - - - - - - YET.

A kew-ree-yuss mind would like to know.

You have a wonderful day. Best wishes. Deas Plant.

Testimonials

"I also joined a year ago. had been on here a couple of times as a non-member and found the info very helpful so I got a one year subscription (not very expensive at all) to try it out. I really like all the resources on here so I just got a three year. I think its a very small price for what you can get out of this site."
