Doesn't seem to be any spec for the bolt hole fit and I couldn't find a specific torque for the bolts. Torque would be generic for that size bolt.
Holes should be checked with a bore gauge. If any are hogged out the shaft/flange should be replaced. Replace all with new Cat hardware if there is any concern.
Thanks for the reply old magnet! Thinking might go to dealer and check fit on new one, if they have one in stock. I've talked with some of the mechanics and most are not familiar with something that old! (39 years seems kinda newish to me😖hocked😊 Andy
Shows the same bevel gear shaft 9H0641 used in the 35A, 36A, 46A, 76A and 77V. Someone should know something.
What 'ring gear' are we talking about? Is it the bevel gear?
Yes, it is the bevel gear.
Those are dowel bolts which are a dead fit in the hub and bevel gear and usually need to be tapped in, or out, with a small hammer, any movement will soon compromise the torque on the bolts and loosen them off. You may get away with one or two if the rest are all a good fit but its a lot of work and expense if you have to go back in there. There should be a torque setting in the service manual.
Problem solved...... new shaft not available:frusty: I did fit them up and altho did not have to tap them in, they were snug. With out the nuts on the gear movement is right at .001. I've seen them weld ring gears on case 580 c & d backhoes, just skip welds, dont think I want to do this on this one. Andy
Maybe you don't need one but they are out there.
