Evening all. Not been on the forum for a while ... 😮

A couple of questions.
1) can anyone date a D8K 66V 1442 ? an British tractor.
2) Is it possible to convert a D342 counter bored block to a spacer plate version .... ?

Regards Gordon.

Gordon, you are on the wrong site to talk about 66V series D8K's its all 77v and 78v on this spot, anyhow if you have an early D8K with the non spacer plate engine the only way to make it a " Spacer Plate " block is to change the engine as the block cannot be re-worked to a spacer spec, the spacer block is the prefered block to run in a K' but the early block can be O.K. if its re-worked by a good machine shop, the D8 drama's are all well known but there is a good amount of crap talked about them, its all down to knowing their little ways of trying to destroy themselfs, the Radiator, coolers and Vee belts need to be A1, they also need to never run out of fuel or suffer shut down due to mank fuel filters etc, also the starting and stopping is an art that can be easy to learn through the wallet, I could go on for hours but you never asked for that, oh and try 1972 for the build date.

Thanks Tony. I must say I did learn a lot from a chap called Owen Broome from Wooton Bassett. He was partners with Arthur Stubbings from Stokenchurch. Their last K was one of the last built an 82 77V i believe. I remember it being totally refurbed at levvies in Windsor, even painted proper yellow. It ended up being sold to Nuttals on the flood relief job. Poor thing never had such a bunch of idots operating it after that and was forever under repair.
