Hello, i'm back with the 8h. Number 4 cylinder's valve lifter guides have been moving in the block. So much that it has allowed one of the pushrods to wear on the compression release shaft and break. Is there an solution to this or is the block unserviceable?

About the only recovery I can think of is to bush the block back to original size.

No, I have not actually seen it done but I don't see why it couldn't be successfull.

Yes this type of repair is successful. We have done them before. Cat make a sleeve to do the job. They even had tooling to repair them in chassis. Good luck in finding a dealer that would have it though. Last one We did the block was stripped for a rebuild and had a machine shop do the repair.
I will try and find the part number if you want it.
Where is Eddy when you need him.LOL . I'm sure he would have come across this before. LJ

thanks for the info.much appreciated. i found it hard to believe that a block would be discarded because of this.
A part number would be a big help. Finding someone with the tools and the knowledge will be the hard part.
Is the sleeve pressed in or is it welded?

What little I recall about the procedure is that the bushings were press fit.

The part number for the repair sleeve in question is a 5P6513.

Check the cam lobes on the associated cylinder.

Good Luck.
