Hi
Im looking at a fairly decent D8H,Seems to run well undercarriage looks good. What is the availability of parts if needed.Im told engine and transmission parts are getting scarce. Is this justTalk from new machine people?
The machine looks like agood workhorse aside from fuel consumtion but I wouldn't want to get stuck with a breakdown and no parts.Any thoughts on this?

I have a friend who is still running his D8H commercially. He says parts are still available; aftermarket if not Caterpillar, and used parts are still plentiful. Undercarriage as always is expensive and difficult to find used in good condition. The D8H is a good tractor, I think that if it checks out go for it. πŸ‘
Happy 'dozing,

High serial number? Side mount hydraulics? Late style air cleaner? 270 HP?

Be careful you can easily lose 20k in repairs (or maybe half that in the US) with final drives very expensive and engine rebuild costing over 10k. Due to cost of repiars and lack of work these machines sometimes can be had for just above scrap value. Pity😞

Testimonials

"I also joined a year ago. had been on here a couple of times as a non-member and found the info very helpful so I got a one year subscription (not very expensive at all) to try it out. I really like all the resources on here so I just got a three year. I think its a very small price for what you can get out of this site."
