I am getting ready to replace the fuel filter on my D7 3T D8800 and I would like to know if the filter tower is under pressure, or any springs are going to fly out when I remove the cap. Also is there any secrets to replacing the filter. I normally would never ask things like this but this engine is a 1948 and I can buy very little from the local parts store. Also after I get the filter replaced is there a special way to bleed the system, or is it like others where you simply crack a line until fuel comes out. I would appreciate any, and all advise you can give me.

Thanks,

Lance

There are no frogs that might jump out .

Take the basis with the 6 filters out of the housing . Did you drain the housing ?
If so , refill the housing with clean fuel before placing the new filters , this will reduce the time to fill and bleed the housing by rotating the engine .

TAKE CARE OF THE SPRING HOLDERS THAT HOLD THE FILTERS ON THE BASIS , THEY ARE FRAGILE !!!!!!!!!!

If you refill the housing that there will some fuel overflow , you hardly have to bleed the system

So, if you come up with only 4 filters in there, don't worry about it.

Don't forget to clean out the bottom of the housing. Have seen them with so much crud they would not leak a drop when the drain plug is removed. Some models are a very difficult shape to clean properly.

I opened the filter housing up and sure enough I only found four filters. Surprisingly the filters, and housing were pretty clean. Now all I to do is bleed the system and see if it will start.

I appreciate all the information.
