How can I tell if my radiator is getting pressurized from either a head gasket issue or cylinder bore issue? Reason I'm asking is because when I started it up Saturday there was water coming out around the hose clamps on the upper radiator hose. Clamps are tight and hose is new.

On a unrelated note where does the tourque converter temp gauge screw in on the converter? I need to replace mine but haven't pulled up the floor yet to get it changed out. Thanks.

Pinholes or leaking seals in the pre-combustion chambers are a frequent cause of pressure in the cooling system.

A cracked head can also cause this problem.

What symptoms would I be seeing if I am indeed getting pressure in the cooling system?

Hi, OldRedTim.
Bubbles showing in the radiator water all the time, especially when warm, would be a good indication of pressure getting into the cooling system. Fill the radiator right to the top when cold, leave the radiator cap off and run it standing still for a while until it warms up, watching all the time for streams of bubbles coming up through the water. You can stand up on the hood and feel the wonderful rumble from the diesel engine through your boots.

On the leaking top hose, is there fairly extensive rust pitting on either or both of the metal pipes that the hose connects?

Just my 0.02.

You have a wonderful day. Best wishes. Deas Plant.
