There is no such serial number for a D8 as that is listed as a 173B & 183B hudraulic control.It should be a 46A power shift & they came out in 1959. Look on the left side of the engine block just below the head toward the rear just above the starting engine trans. if it has one or the electric starter if so equipped.Also look on a plate above the drawbar on the back of the trans. case & there should be a plate with it on or if the plate is missing the SN would be stamped in the housing where the plate was riveted on in between the holes or old rivets if they are still in the housing yet as sometimes the plate gets torn off & the rivets are there yet.
I looked back by the draw bar but it had a thick coat of pain on it and I couldn't find anything. I will take a look on the engine. It has full engine shrouds on it, from the factory by the looks, and on top has a hump that looks like it blows air back at the operator. It is only about 6 inches tall and looks like a hood scoop some cars have. Not a home made one.
