FM, depending upon optional equipment it should weight pretty close to 53,000lbs. Good luck.
Bare tractor 40,000 lbs
Straight blade with rear CCU 6,355 lbs
Year of build is 1955
Farmall Man - We need a little more info for a degree of accuracy. Is it a front CCU or rear CCU? Is the blade an angle blade, staright blade or U-blade?
Your blade width doesn't gell .. the 8A (angle) blade is 13' 7" wide, the 8S (straight) blade is 12' 1" wide, and the 8U (U-blade) is 11' 11" wide.
Is the canopy a proper heavy duty ROPS with sweeps? .. or just a tree-resisting FOPS canopy? You also need to factor in any additional equipment such as roller or other guards, dirt in the belly pans, and the condition of the undercarriage.
Mikes figure is close to the mark, and your tractor could even run a little higher, depending on what is fitted by way of attachments.
FM, I have weighed my late model 2U with U-blade, full ROPS, belly pan, rock gaurds, front CCU, Hyster D8L drum, and what ever dirt accumulation right near 30Ton. Hope that helps. firpitch
My D8 14A with hydraulic blade, winch, belly pan, rops weighs over 50,000 pounds (without dirt added). On it's last trip, in order to keep the weigh down, the blade arrived a week later. I didn't get the weight on the blade (13' 6" wide) by it's self.
Thanks for all the info, it is a straight blade with rear CCU...and it has a ROPS but i am unsure of what style, doesn't have the tree sweeps i know that forsure!!! Here is a pic of the ole gal from the auction day....![]()
D8E tractor operating weight .. 40,430 lbs ..
Rear #29 CCU ......................... 1,990 lbs ..
#8S blade (12' 1" wide) ........... 6,355 lbs ..
ROPS ....................................... 1,250 lbs (approx) ..
TOTAL .................................... 50,025 lbs (approx) ..
To be accurate, that canopy wouldn't pass muster as a ROPS. The definition of a ROPS is a structure that is supported via some serious-size mountings on the tractor chassis, and which can withstand tractor rollover without serious deformation. The style of canopy in your pic is defined as a FOPS (Falling Object Protection Structure), and is designed to protect the operator from falling limbs and small trees. A direct hit from a big tree would probably make a mess of it .. as well as the operator.
