Hello all. First time poster, long time reader. I have an old 46A with a pony motor. The 12 volt starter crapped out on me. One of the splines that the gear rotates on to push out chipped off, so the gear won't retract, then the gear spun off. Anyways, in my old service manual for starter it lists Delco Remy 1107213 or 1107741 for the starter (number are all worn off of my old starter). When I search online for those numbers, all I come up with is that those numbers are obsolete.

Would anybody know off the top of their heads or from a newer parts book, a number for that starter that is not obsolete? Thanks everybody!

Try your Cat dealer for an exchange starter, there will be a Cat number for it.

Do you need a whole starter assembly or just the replacement drive?

Testimonials

"I also joined a year ago. had been on here a couple of times as a non-member and found the info very helpful so I got a one year subscription (not very expensive at all) to try it out. I really like all the resources on here so I just got a three year. I think its a very small price for what you can get out of this site."
